Welcome to
Rekindle Recovery
Rekindle Recovery CIC is a grassroots, volunteer run, peer-led community organisation for people with lived and living experience of mental distress and other life interrupting challenges.
We wish to foster opportunities for learning and sharing ideas that support personal recovery so that people can live well regardless of any life interrupting challenges they face.
We promote wellness through face-to-face weekly drop-ins which offer a provision of wellbeing learning resources, a community Recovery Library based on trust (no fines or due dates!), creative activities, and other mental health Recovery educational opportunities.

Our Values
Kindness, respect, and compassion are at the core of all we do.
We believe in genuine human relationships, offering trauma-sensitive, peer-to-peer support.
As a Recovery community, we hope that Rekindle becomes your opportunity to create what helps you and others to live well.
Living well isn’t always about living symptom free; it’s about having a desire to find healing and growth for any part of our life so we can live well regardless of the challenges we face.
What we mean by Recovery
Recovery is a word which carries many definitions for many people. It can evoke different meanings in different contexts.
Language is important. The word ‘Recovery’ can be challenging for many. For some people Recovery may feel like taking a step backwards because there is nothing they want to ’recover’ or go back to! For others Recovery is confused simply with problems connected with substance abuse.
Here in the UK, and in places around the world, Recovery is a term widely used in the context of mental health, healing, and wellness. Our Rekindle Recovery community wants to hold on to its identity as an organisation that remains closely allied with the original values of Recovery.
Hope, Opportunity and Choice are the values which have helped to define the Recovery approach for over two decades.
Still, words like ‘recovery’ that are meaningful one day can quickly come to be over-used, become ‘buzz-words’, co-opted or absorbed by other systems to serve their own agenda, often in ways that can neutralise their original meaning or intent.
Rekindle Recovery wants to leave space for the many different meanings, experiences, and interpretations that our community represents. The true meaning of the word is what you bring to it now and in the future. Just like you, language is never static. Meaning evolves and changes over time.
As a community organisation, our offer or recovery stems from you and the process you bring to make genuine human connections with others in ways to promote mutual benefit and healing.
